Our Mission
To provide independent, comprehensive, expert scientific advice to the Australian Government on autism policy and system reform, with a specific focus on improving outcomes for autistic individuals with moderate to profound disability and higher support needs.
The Committee will advocate for evidence-based strategies and reforms that address the critical national gaps in diagnosis, early intervention, education, housing, healthcare, employment, justice and lifelong supports.
Purpose & Objectives
Convene leading autism experts and stakeholders to provide a unified, independent voice to all levels of government.
Monitor and advise on the development and implementation of the National Autism Strategy and related policy frameworks.
Ensure autistic individuals with moderate and higher support needs are included in all stages of policy design and evaluation.
Identify evidence-based approaches to improve the outcomes for autistic children across health, education, justice, employment, and the NDIS.
Serve as a rapid-response body to provide advice on urgent and emerging autism-related issues.
Maintain a commitment to lived experience and scientific rigour.
